This is an exciting extension of research at Exeter University.
Indian, Mughal , Rajput and Vijayanagara empires flourished in India on horses.

Hello, I’d be very interested in getting involved in some way with this project. One of my areas of personal research and practice is the medieval warhorse. I have a breeding programme here on my stud farm in Northants where I am training and retraining a number I’d differe types of horses. I would be delighted to find out how what I am doing may map onto archaeology. Jason 07775524247

I read about the website and research in the Medieval Archeology newsletter. How exciting: two or my favorite subjects (medieval history and horses) combined! I have been collecting books for my personal library for fiction writing. I have Davies book. I also have Ann Hyland’s series and one not often cited, Dr. Deb Bennett’s Conquerors. Please keep us informed of your progress. One of my hobbies is posting occasional topics relating to the medieval life. http://www.dianasprain.net

I am fascinated andxwish to learn about the breeds of horses used for medieval warfare. This is wonderful research but do you have a link to any resources which discuss actual breeds? Thank you.

Thank you for your comment, Sarah. One of the aims of our project is to look into breeding, particularly for medieval warfare. Tracing breeds in our modern understanding is rather complicated so we tend to speak of types instead. Hopefully, our project will reveal more detailed information on this exciting topic.
